You’ll find other helpful resources at *mesaaz.gov/conservation [ https://mesaaz.gov/conservation?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]*. Resolve to save in 2026.
*When it Rains, It Pours … Free Water!*
Recent rains are a great reminder of just how valuable rainwater can be. One inch of rain falling on a 1,500 sq. ft. roof can produce about 900 gallons of water, and a 3,000 sq. ft. yard can capture an additional 1,800 gallons in your landscape. Rainwater isn’t just free – it’s also naturally rich in nutrients that benefit your plants. That’s why exploring rainwater harvesting makes sense. Keep this valuable resource on your property instead of letting it run down the street. During and after storms, observe where water flows or pools. These are ideal spots to capture and reuse rainwater.
Learn more on our *Rainwater Harvesting page [ https://wateruseitwisely.com/saving-water-outdoors/rainwater-harvesting?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]* – it’s full of practical tips and local resources to get you started.

Start the New Year with Safety
Jan 2026 Gas Safety
As we welcome in a new year, let’s make natural gas safety a family priority. Make sure everyone knows the signs of a natural gas leak. Because natural gas is colorless and odorless, a distinctive rotten-egg smell is added to help you detect it.
You can also spot a gas leak by:
* Hearing a blowing or hissing sound coming from a pipeline, meter or appliance
* Seeing unusual changes in soil, dead or dying plants, blowing dirt or bubbling water
If you notice any of these signs, leave the area immediately and call 911 and our emergency gas hotline at 480-644-4277.
