New Law in Mesa to Allow Certain E-Bikes and E-Scooters in City Parks

Mesa City Council has approved two ordinances that allow certain electric bicycles (e-bikes) and electric scooters (e-scooters) in Mesa parks and on shared-use (canal) paths, with specific limitations. As we welcome in a new year, let’s make natural gas safety a family priority. Make sure everyone knows the signs of a natural gas leak. Because natural gas is colorless and odorless, a distinctive rotten-egg smell is added to help you detect it.

You can also spot a gas leak by:


* Hearing a blowing or hissing sound coming from a pipeline, meter or appliance
* Seeing unusual changes in soil, dead or dying plants, blowing dirt or bubbling water

If you notice any of these signs, leave the area immediately and call 911 and our emergency gas hotline at 480-644-4277.

Get Ready, Mesa! Mesa-K-Ready Sessions Kick Off Soon

Mesa K Ready

Mesa K-Ready provides FREE parent training sessions that empower families with tools and strategies to support early learning and Kindergarten readiness. Sessions are held bi-monthly through May 7 and are open to families with children ages 3 to 5.

Classes take place every other Wednesday and include bilingual instruction and materials in English and Spanish. Families may choose the location and time that best fits their schedule:

Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum Spring Opening Reception

Mesa Contemporary Arts Museum celebrates the opening of five new free spring exhibitions exploring the depth and diversity of contemporary craft, alongside a season of free public programs designed to engage audiences of all ages. On view are “Soundcraft,” “Crafting Legacy: Honoring Arizona Veteran Artists,” “Beyond Tradition: Selections from the MCA Permanent Collection,” Ann Morton’s “Hook, Line and Sinker” and the “47th Annual Juried Contemporary Crafts” exhibition.

Free Creative Fun for Little Ones

Mesa Arts Center offers two free weekly programs designed especially for young children and their families. *One East Pop-Up: Mini Makers* takes place Wednesdays from 10 – 11 a.m., Jan. 7 – 28, in the One East Pop-Up space at Mesa Arts Center, where little artists can enjoy drama-filled storytime, creative play and hands-on art using recycled materials. *Let’s Play Drama Storytime* happens Thursdays at 10a.m., Jan. 8 – April 16, at the Neon Garden in Downtown Mesa, inviting children to bring stories to life through movement, imagination and playful drama.
